British Premieres at the Proms

The 2007 BBC Proms listings have been announced and this season contains 4 BBC Commissions for works, including Sam Hayden's Substratum, to be performed by the BBC Symphony Orchestra in Prom 5 alongside Symphonies by Berntein and Ives. Prom 21, as part of 'Brass Day' sees two commissions performed by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and massed brass players: the premiere of Peter Wiegold's He is armoured without and the second performance of Judith Bingham's Fanfare, 'Ziggurat'. Prom 25 see the London Premiere of Sir Harrison Birtwistle's Neruda Madrigales, co-commissioned by the BBC alongside Boulez and Prom 27 features the world premiere of David Matthews' Symphony No. 6.
