Jaia (2000, piano solo) pays homage
to Isaac Albéniz, taking rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic
elements from the late piano works. [p.8 – a few bars before
and after Calmo] Erkoreka takes a dual approach to this material,
in some cases simplifying and, in others, exaggerating Albéniz’s
original. In this way, it becomes part of Erkoreka’s world
of musical extremes. Next
