about
For the fifth year running, Bmic will be presenting its highly
successful Autumn series of contemporary music concerts - The Cutting
Edge. The 2003 programme will feature 12 exciting concerts at The
Warehouse, Waterloo, and an evening at Hackney’s Ocean venue,
focusing on the rich diversity of post 1960's British repertoire.
The 2003 series features a typically eclectic mix of events.
Alongside new work from many of the UK's leading composers are classics
from some of contemporary music's iconic figures: Messaien, Xenakis,
Stockausen, Schnittke, Berio, Stockahusen, Cage, Nancarrow, Feldman,
Ligeti... a tribute concert for Brian Ferneyhough rubs shoulders
with leading-edge electro-acoustic work, dance collaborations and
music with video. There are Cutting Edge debuts for award winning
pianists Philip Howard and Sarah Nicholls, the internationally acclaimed
piano duo Bugallo-Williams, and the violin/piano duo of Madeleine
Mitchell and Andrew Ball, whilst ensembles making a welcome return
include CHROMA, New Music Players, OKEANOS, New Noise and Expose.
Bmic's The Cutting Edge is a unique event, and promises something
for everyone. So make Thursday evenings your date with new music!
