about the tour
Catch the newest music performed by some outstanding contemporary music
performers in the 3rd Cutting Edge Tour which runs from March 2003 –
January 2004. The British Music Information Centre is delighted to continue
its relationship with promoters in Durham, Oxford,
Cambridge, Nottingham, Huddersfield
and York. The tour will for the first time travel south-west
to Hereford and expand beyond the English border into
Wales at the Vale of Glamorgan Festival. There will also
be first-time concerts at the Guildford, Cheltenham
and Leamington Festivals and a collaboration with the
Bath Film Festival.
Who can you expect to hear?
As in the Cutting Edge Series, the emphasis is on recent music from British
composers. We are now in the second half of the Tour which runs from September
to January. Isabel Ettenauer returns to the UK with her toy pianos at
the Vale of Glamorgan Festival, to be joined later in the week by O K
E A N O S. Dynamic String group Opus 20 makes two appearances, at the
Bath Film Festival and Cheltenham Contemporary Concerts.
Later on, O K E A N O S heads to the National Centre for Early Music
and York University’s concert series, and we stay in the area to
hear Jonathan Powell and Ensemble Exposé in the Huddersfield Contemporary
Music Festival. Exposé continues northwards to Durham’s Musicon
series, where finally Sound Intermedia and Clive Williamson close the
Tour with a performance in January.
See the calendar page for programme details.
The BMIC is grateful to the Arts Council of England’s
National Touring Programme for funding
which makes the Cutting Edge Tour possible.
